| Congratulations to 1000 Friends of CT for organizing today's successful Smart Growth Conference at SCSU! Over 400 people from around the state attended to hear presentations from legislators, state and federal agency officials, and economists as well as attend workshops on a variety of Smart Growth issues. Overall, the message was that Smart Growth is gaining acceptance at the state and local level but much more needs to be done to educate elected officials and citizens about the economic, social, and environmental benefits of growing smart.
I do not have time to elaborate further, but will have several posts about various aspects of the conference over the next few days. Suffice to say now, I walked away feeling great about the future of Smart Growth in the state of Connecticut.
By the way, check out Alan Bisbort's article in this week's Hartford Advocate on farmland preservation. |
